Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade H. E. Péter Szijjártó signed a cooperation agreement between the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy and the Diplomatic Institute of the Sultanate of Oman on 15 December last year. As a first step of the cooperation, the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy organised a training course for diplomats from the Gulf country between 12-17 March in the framework of the Budapest Diplomatic Dialogue programme.
The delegation was led by H. E. Zainab Ali Said Al-Qasmi, Director of the Oman Diplomatic Institute, who held a separate meeting with Dr. Orsolya Pacsay-Tomassich, President of the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy.
During the week-long programme, the delegation members heard presentations on topics of particular importance for bilateral relations: bilateral economic cooperation, Hungary's Middle East strategy, water diplomacy. On the second day, Dr. Imre Ádám Szűcs, Head of the Department, presented the Academy and together with the Director, they reviewed the possibilities for further cooperation between the two diplomatic training institutions.
The diplomats showed great interest in Hungarian culture, architecture and art. The cultural programmes were complemented by a visit to the House of Hungarian Music and the Parliament.
