General information

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme (SH) was launched in 2013 by the Hungarian Government with the aim of providing opportunities for international students to pursue their higher education studies in Hungary. The scholarship programme is managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and co-ordinated by Tempus Public Foundation. The programme is based on bilateral educational cooperation agreements signed between the Ministries responsible for education in the sending countries/territories and Hungary. The Sultanate of Oman is currently provided with 50 scholarship places per academic year.

Available educational programmes

  • Full degree master studies: In the fields of Agricultural Science, Arts and Humanities, Social Science, Computer Science and Information Technology, Legal Science, Economic Science, Engineering Science, Medical and Health Science, Teacher Training, Sport Science, Natural Science and Arts
  • Full degree doctoral studies: In any field of interest
  • Postgraduate specialist training courses: In the fields of Agricultural Science, Arts and Humanities, Social Science, Computer Science and Information Technology, Legal Science, Economic Science, Engineering Science, Medical and Health Science, Teacher Training, Sport Science, Natural Science and Arts
  • Partial studies – master level: Levels and fields of study as specified above
  • Partial studies – doctoral level: Levels and fields of study as specified above

 

Application procedure

We have the pleasure to inform you that the DreamApply online application system for Stipendium Hungaricum applicants is open.

Please note that you can only apply for these study programmes within the framework of the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme.

Applicants are eligible to apply only for those scholarship types and study fields that are determined in the educational cooperation programmes in effect between Hungary and the specific Sending Partner. Please see the full list of available study fields regarding your sending country.
Applicants who are citizens of a country that has entered into a cooperation agreement with Hungary both independently and as part of a larger alliance may choose any framework but may only apply for the courses included in the given framework.

  • Application to Tempus Public Foundation

All applications shall be submitted through the online application system of Tempus Public Foundation. After registration, the applicants can access the application system and upload the required documents. Applications should be submitted; only saved applications will not be considered. Please note that no applications will be accepted without the online submission and after the deadline. No hard copies are required. A guide for the online system will be available to download from the www.stipendiumhungaricum.hu website.

The deadline for submitting the complete application: 15 January 2024, 2 p.m. (Central European Time)

 

  • Application to the Sending Partners

All applications shall also be submitted to the responsible authority of the Sending Partner. Each Sending Partner might have different deadlines and requirements for submitting the application material. Applicants are strongly advised to contact the responsible authority at their Sending Partner as soon as possible and inquire about the exact procedures.
The responsible authority of the Sending Partner will review and pre-select the applications. A nomination list, including a reserve list, will be forwarded to Tempus Public Foundation by the Sending Partner until the end of February 2024. Applications will be considered only if the applicant is nominated. No other applications will be considered.
Exceptions are made for applicants who previously achieved first, second or third place at the National Scientific Student Conference and who receive automatic nomination with the unique consent of the minister responsible for foreign policy.
